Socio-demographic determinants of travel motivation and behaviour of visitors in nature-based destinations in northern Nigeria

This study aimed to assess socio-demographic determinants of travel motivation and behavior visitors in nature-based destinations Northern Nigeria. Structured questionnaire was administered 575 respondents at Chad Basin National Park; CBNP (69), Gashaka Gumti GGNP (165) Yankari Game Reserve; YGR (341). Data were analyzed descriptively inferentially. Results revealed that majority the males (72.5%), females (77.6%) (53.1%). Visitors majorly motivated come for enjoyment nature (27.5%) while source information about parks previous trip as highest (29%) (36.1%) recorded friends relatives (45.5%). They visit because they wanted be away from hustle bustle cities (33.3%) game viewing (33.4%). Furthermore, there is significant relationship between motivations sex, marital status, education, occupation, nationality (P<0.01). The monthly income, occupation behaviours factors except age. attributes should developed more these motivate people sites.
